Before President O took office and before President B left office, the whole world hoped against hope that incoming President O would make a difference regarding world peace...specifically calling for an end to the war in Iraq. Today came the announcement that President O was the recipient of the Nobel Peace prize after less than a year in office and certainly with no end to the war (in Iraq) or rumors of war elsewhere (in Afghanistan). Interestingly, our Savior, Jesus weighed in on the topic thousands of years ago before he ascended. If it means anything to you, He said ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, see that ye be not troubled...Is the Nobel Peace Prize more posturing in politics than passage to peace? Or, is the promotion of peace by President O a fulfillment of Matthew 24:6 ...that we be not troubled for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

I can only imagine the hissy fits republican talking heads will be pitching about this over the weekend. After applauding the loss of the 2016 Olympic Games, how do they spend their expensive air-time dealing with this unexpected honor? I suspect they will cast aspersions on the Nobel Prize selection committee, and down grade the award. President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation. Obama wins has drawn mixed reviews - Reuters. OK, so I'm reading Andrew Sullivan's All Over The World post in which he writes, This president has done a huge amount to bring race relations in this country to a different place." AAPP: I'm like what world is he in? What has this guy been smokin' For most black Americans, race/color relations in this country is worst since Barack Obama became President. Candidly, I'm with so many Americans on this one. I'm wondering what did President Barack Obama do to win the Nobel Prize. What did he really do? Did he really win because he is the first black to win the Presidency of the United States? If so, this will be the first "Race Card-Nobel Prize." Barack has not solved the color arousal problem in America, Stopped the War on Afghanistan, or brought Peace to the Middle East, So... What did Obama do to get the Nobel Peace Prize? OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism. Many observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline and has yet to yield concrete achievements in peacemaking. Some around the world objected to the choice of Obama, who still oversees wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and has launched deadly counter-terror strikes in Pakistan and Somalia. The Norwegian Nobel Committee countered that it was trying "to promote what he stands for and the positive processes that have started now." It lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation, and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms, ease American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthen the U.S. role in combating climate change. The peace prize was created partly to encourage ongoing peace efforts but Obama's efforts are at far earlier stages than past winners'. The Nobel committee acknowledged that they may not bear fruit at all. "He got the prize because he has been able to change the international climate," Nobel Committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland said. "Some people say, and I understand it, isn't it premature? Too early? Well, I'd say then that it could be too late to respond three years from now. It is now that we have the opportunity to respond — all of us."

Baldwin was ticked because of the speech given by the Nobel spokesperson who claimed America's values were now finally the same as the rest of the world's community. McCullough seconds that and understands that the reason the world loves our President is because he doesn't love his nation nearly as much as Presidents usually do.
